Re: Female!Watson and why it should be awesome but probably won’t be

Okay, I just want to say this because I realised that I have to explain my last post a little.
I love the idea of such a strong, well written, complex character as Watson being given to a woman. I think that is a good thing, and I would absolutely love to see more genderbending in media.
However, my concern really lies within one thing. Whenever there is a programme centered on one fabulous smart male lead, and a straight laced, competent (if bland) woman, you have the majority of cop shows (The Mentalist, Castle, All CSI’s etcetcetcetcetc at nausem). In all likelyhood, just like with Moonlighting, the X Files, and the rest, there will be a romantic element. The female will fall for the male. And therein lies my problem. Because they have demoted down a great opportunity, to some stupid gender politics schtick.
Now I know it’s not out yet, and it could all go bloody brilliantly.
But, in all reality, I just don’t think I trust US tv to handle this gender issue correctly.
ETA:
People who are complaining about female!Watson because it gets in the way of your slash
GET THE FUCK OFF MY PLANET AND STOP USING MY OXYGEN.
